an introduction to everything

This post is for anyone interested in taking a journey with me.

I kept the most important textbooks (to me) from college because I couldn’t let them go. They were my constant companions and simultaneously my greatest sources of pain and comfort (and possibly, collectively, the source of my masochistic tendencies).

Today I started reading my undergrad textbook on the most difficult subject in human history. Pre-human, if you think about it. Pre-everything if you really think about it. 

Anyway, below is the introduction to the book. These two pages sum up the reasons why any nerd puts him/herself through what he/she chooses to, or why any of us would choose to do anything beyond the everyday.
